Looks to be a busy line you have Allen!

You could even do some shunting while the trains go around in your yard/steam up area?

just a general observation but your track-work looks a bit wiggly...

Just a tip but for straight sections I cut a 2mm thick length of ally with a straight edge. Used it as a rule to butt the track up against while laying.

For tight curves i used my knee to bend track around and for light curves i used my stomach. :)

I have straight and some curved track gauges (Jims Models) and I did use them at times, the track is not as bad as the low level photos make it look. But having said that I have not seen a non wiggly full size narrow gauge railway. You can see the track gauges in some of the photos.

Size ain't everything Dan I've got to get on me hands and knees and lay all the ballast yet. If the weather stays reasonable.

The recent change to cold weather has slowed progress on the C.R.L.R. me and my mate Mick did try to run a couple of steamers but the cold weather made them hard to light up as the gas was too cold and we were frozen not the hardiest of people, we eased some over tight curves and corrected some dodgy joints managed one or two laps at slow speed then gave up and headed in to a warm house. The first proper run will have to wait till it warms up a bit will film this when it happens, I did film our cold run but had the camera on wrong setting so not good enough to post on here.

I did the same today Al (and got cold in the process).

My video's were filmed too late in the day so on the computer they are too dark to view - doh!

I've sometimes beaten the cold weather by raising steam indoors and then taking the loco outside when it's ready. Not that my wife is overjoyed when I make the kitchen smell like an engine shed. Or when I use her baking trays to catch oily drips and transport hot engines into the garden come to that.

Worth persevering though Al - the steam looks so impressive in the cold air, and that's a lovely long run you've got...

Hi not posted on this thread for a long time finally got the rite combination of time and weather to have the first full lap run on the C.R.L.R. I strapped my Cannon camera in video mode on to a coal wagon with 3 large elastic bands and was surprised how well it stayed in place, It was pulled by my IP Jessica and I am pleased to say came out quite well. Next thing to do is a steam powered lap next week weather permitting. This is my first You-Tube effort so hope link works.

That's a lovely long run - great spluttery start-up sound on the loco too! Enjoy your new line - weather's looking good for a steam up tomorrow!

It's from Chuffed2bits details on this thread of the loco build.
