battery conversion

I was wondering of there are any dealers who convert track powered locos to battery power?

Id convert my new LGB tram myself but am crap with electrics.

Just wire up a normal On off On ciruit with battery and instead of the motor solder the motor wires to the track pickups... how i done a faller for a friend.

PTLRcecil's experiance of doing this to the Accucraft Baguleys may be of use, although I think LGB cicutary is more complicated

I'd rcommend NOT wiring to the track pick-ups unless your track is configured correctly (ie no balloon loops like you have on your tramway extension Pauly) - otherwise you've got a short circuit across your battery.

My LGB chassis have the pick-up skates and the plungers that pick up current from the back of the wheels removed as the first job.
As you're doing this you'll see where the wires connect back to the motor connections. This is where you need to connect your new power source.

Either a simple battery/DPDT switch or battery/DPDT switch & speed controller will work, I've done both now since I worked out which end of the soldering iron to use
