I was on a train through France a couple of weeks ago and was astonished at how far afield the graffiti "artists" are wiling to go. There was "gang signs" or "tags" or whatever you call them on electrical boxes beside the tracks that were miles and miles from any village, in the middle of nowhere. They must have walked for hours. I don't get it.

Continuing IrishPeter's loo based humour. In the days when a stand up pee was free but an old penny (1/240th of a £) got you into the sit down loo.IrishPeter:119501 wrote:My favourite graffito was over the loo roll dispenser at college

Meanwhile, back to the thread!!!!! having read your comments, and taking your advice, which I always do, I have now managed to take away the 'newness' of the painted walls. It looks so much improved now, see what you think....

My new station now has a name. Originally I planned to call it 'Brockhamton' as it is close to the village, however, that is the name of the terminus, which of course, it isn't!
So, a new name was required, and one with some local connection I thought would be nice. As we are within a few miles of the home of Wales best known author and poet, Dylan Thomas I have adopted the fictitious fishing village name from his most famous work, 'Under Milk Wood', 'Llareggub'. This is one of those names which can be read either forwards or backwards..... you decide which you prefer!

More structure work is currently underway, pictures may follow shortly...

I like the choice of name Peter.
Incidentally there are still many people in the area that remember Dylan and Catrin well. By all accounts they were not always popular in the town, Catrin had a habit of sunbathing in the nude (a foolhardy occupation in west Wales at the best of times)
One of the Landlords of Browns Hotel until his retirement had a lucrative sideline in selling old dart boards and beer mugs to gullible American tourists as articles that Dylan played on or drank from, on one occasion even a large bed was disposed off in this manner. The chap reckoned that it was easier than sending them to the dump

Interesting information Jim, there may be many who would love to make an association with our local hero, but I make no claim, and, as he died in 1953 whilst on a promo. tour of America, I certainly wouldn't be old enough to remember him anyway. Caitlin was the wild spirit you describe and had relationships elsewhere too. She was only 39 when Dylan died and lived abroad until her death in Sicily in 1994. Incidentally, she too rolled her own cigarettes...... sounds familiar!
However.... Brown's Hotel is well worth a visit, the Boat House (his home) and Writing Shed are 'must see' tourist destinations and Laugharne is a beautiful village, we are so lucky to live in such a place.

Groan!!!!!! that was unexpected. I never gave a thought to a harbour connection but now you have planted the seed I have looked at a location and decided it is certainly possible and, despite having to concentrate my efforts on a new project, I think would add to the overall appearance in an area which is currently underused.philipy:119577 wrote:
Now that you have a fishing village name, can we expect to see a harbour in due course?
This railway will never be completed as long as new ideas are thrown in my general direction. Keep them coming and as long as I can I will try to accommodate them.
BUT...... No Blackpool Towers or wind turbines, OK?

This is the site for the harbour scene...

Not particularly interesting as it stands so just right for development. With a little modification to the timber framing it will allow a step to be fitted which will be the water level. Meanwhile... a bonded warehouse would be perfect for such a location...

I have just found a picture of a suitable dockside crane to build which will look in keeping with the small harbour. Other sheds and structures will complete the picture.
