Clever :) I must say that I've looked at that type of cable clip and wondered how they would work as an inside axlebox.

As an alternative to metal tippers I always thought these O&K ones looked very interesting.

Thanks Dave :) I've found the details for 'Quayle Rail' too which gives me another option. I remember buying some 'Quayle rail' a good many years ago now, but then I couldn't find it anymore. Good to know it's back on the market again.

Some of the track (particularly in the cutting) looks very "chunky" - what is it? That's my G gauge groovy track. http://s20.postimg.org/3sufdw1vh/D_DSC03163640x480.jpg Best wishes, Dave. Dave, how have you found this track to be in terms of durability? I'm considering building a small li...

Wow, you've all certainly given me plenty to think about.  Thank you for giving me the benefit of your combined experience  :D Only problem is that I've just found a box full of '0' gauge mechs and a lot of other '0' gauge stuff including a Lionel 6 coupled mech that would look soooooo fitted to a c...

Battery powered tinplate trains?

While digging about and shifting stuff to make way for my layout baseboards I found a large amount of Hornby '0' gauge and coarse scale '0' wagons as well as various old down on their luck '0' gauge locos by Leeds & etc.  I thought I'd sold off all this stuff so I was surprised to find I still h...

I've found an on-line wholesale plumbing supplier that sells boilers by the metre. Well it's PVC pipe actually so I'll be ordering up myself a couple of metres of 50mm pipe which should keep me quiet for a while. Found a local on-line supplier of plasticard too so I'll buy in some 2mm and 1.5mm shee...

There was a particular brand of tea tree oil deodorant I used to buy that had a wonderful steam dome like cap.  Unfortunately they changed the design of the container and the cap is now entirely different and quite unsuitable.  Fortunately though I was wise enough to save the caps off the old bottle...

You know you are a 16mm scale railway enthusiast when......

When I spent a good quarter of an hour in the supermarket this afternoon evaluating caps on bottles for their potential as steam domes.

And just to go slightly off topic and distract you all here's the Class 15A Garratt being unloaded at Steam Incorporated's yard here in New Zealand. You'll also see a restored DA class diesel in the classic red and silver speed whisker livery that I remember well from my school girl days. https://ww...

The Greendale Garratt.

The whole idea started with some harmless messing about one evening when a stray notion entered my mind which set me wondering as to what a Garratt version of the Greendale Rocket might look like. http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/ac31/SanctaRosa5/Railway%20Modelling/Kotanga%20Tramway/GreendaleGarr...

I'm going to take my Greendale Garratt build across to its own topic as I think I've spent quite enough time hi-jacking Tony's thread.

In between other modelmaking jobs, - usually while I'm waiting for glue to dry, - I've been working on the Greendale Garratt. I think I've let myself get a little more carried away than I first intended, but I'm reasonably happy with the direction this build is going in. http://i883.photobucket.com/...
