Re: Time to build a railway...but where?
Hello Peter, That's yet another superb vehicle. The Sixteen Mills kits appear to be lovely vehicles. Based on your description of the builds I'm tempted. I'm not sure I could make quite such a good job but they look like they would be a pleasure to put together in themselves. Thanks for the descript...

Re: List of Suppliers
That's better than a good start - it's pretty much job done! Thanks for putting in all that effort. Err, don't think its job done though Andrew. There are no contact details and most of the entries are duplicated and require editing, plus I think some do no longer exist. Hi Philip, You're right, fo...

Re: List of Suppliers
Wow Steve, That's better than a good start - it's pretty much job done! Thanks for putting in all that effort. Not being a member I never thought about the 16mm site. Philip, I don't have access to the Suppliers board. when I click on it it tells me I don't have permission to view or post, am I doin...

List of Suppliers
Hello all, Whilst looking for a suitable vehicle for my momentum van project recently I was searching the 'interweb' for suitable candidates. Remembering all the various suppliers we have available to us is no small feat, made worse by the fact that my memory isn't good at the best of times! It led ...

What a great thread with a fine looking outcome. It's the sort of thread which I'm sure people will refer back to. Rik Spot on Rik. I've no doubt I shall be referring back it from time to time in the future. :study: Just the sort of thing that makes this site such a useful resource. :D CFLR Andrew

Re: Lyn >> Schull & Skibbereen Erin(ish)
That looks superb Rik. I'm afraid I know less than nothing about 3D printing so the technical details are lost on me but the loco has some very nice lines to it. I've never particularly been a 'loco' man, but I do have a 'thing' about 0-4-4 tank engines, I've never seen one yet that doesn't please m...

That is a smashing job George. It's a lovely model and the quality of the build is impressive. I love the livery by the way

Re: The Charnwood Forest Light Railway
Hello dear readers. I seem to have to re-learn some lessons over and over again. I’ve just spent the better part of an hour composing a post, only for it to vanish into the ether again when I came to post it! Only then did I remember that when writing a post, particularly longer posts or ones that w...

Re: Southwold stock
That's a lovely railway Steve, I loved the youtube clip. I quite enjoy folk music but I see what folks mean about the volume. It would be fantastic to see some pic's of the line now and to watch the restoration.
All the best,

Then I doubt you'll enjoy some of my model making sessions in the workshop Rod, when I play my English folk music CDs and occasionally grab my tin whistle and join in. Though you'll probably be pleased to hear that I now no longer strap on my bells and dance to the Morris tunes .... Rik Rik, ...

Re: The Charnwood Forest Light Railway
Thanks for sharing your views guys, your suggestions are all worthy of further study and considering. I need some better weather before I can put any of it to practical purpose. I shall update you once the temperatures rise! :sunny: In other news I have made a start on my momentum van. I began by st...

Re: The Charnwood Forest Light Railway
Hello Pipp, Like you I've been a great advocate of Filcriss. As you say, flexible, easy to use, not to mention quick to assemble and easy on the eye without further work. I think you have probably hit the nail on the head here, it's the fact that it's buried - the very thing which I imagined would m...

Re: The Charnwood Forest Light Railway
Hi Philip, It's not good at all. The foundation is two 2x1 Filcriss strips spaced apart with 2x2 Filcriss blocks alternating with 2x2x18 to 24" Filcriss posts at 18" centres. The space between the Filcriss strips is filled with pea gravel before being covered in Terram (off cuts from the r...

Re: The Charnwood Forest Light Railway
Hello Readers, I mentioned my 'wandering' track alignment in my New Year post, I have an update. One advantage of having the railway is that the garden is much lower maintenance, thanks to plenty of ground cover plants and a reduction in 'crop' plants. Most of the growing is done on the allotment th...

Re: Peckforton Light Railway - Video Library
Fantastic Rik, Snow always gives things a a timeless feel in my opinion in 12" to the foot scale (to considerable benefit in many cases!). With garden railways I guess there are less out of scale features in view and the effect is equally pleasing. Your clip could easily be taken for the real t...

Re: (WH)WHR Rolling Stock
Andrew, Those wagons look fantastic! The bogie open looks exactly the way I remember the one (two?) lying at Beddgelert in the late sixties. The loads look incredibly realistic and 'fill' the wagons 'properly' (i.e. no gap between the load and the wagon side) It's a great step toward realistic opera...

Re: The Charnwood Forest Light Railway
Hello all, I thought I'd better add an update about the CFLR before a whole year goes by since the last one! Progress has continued at a pedestrian pace. Working for one of 'essential' industries' and being easily able to work from home meant I avoided being furloughed. I'm hugely thankful for that ...
