Regarding wrenches and sockets.
I think I would wait until I decided on a kit?
I am sure that some will require imperial tools, and others metric?

Re: Essel Chattendon body removal
One issue I noticed was the receiver antenna. Shouldn't the insulation on the black wire cover its whole length ,as is there's approx 3cm of bare wire showing . No.. The black 'wire' will be a coaxial cable. - Think like on a TV aerial. The 'expised' bit, is the inner core (and its insulation) . - ...

Many of you will know that Leanne has been struggling to keep pdf models going, and it looked like the range would be lost. It has been announced that pdf models has been taken over by Stan Turner. Obviously, it will take a little time for him to build up stock, and get up to speed on supply, but I ...

I wouldn't..
It will still have a little detergent and parfums in it, plus 'whatever' is in conditioner to 'soften' clothes.
An air conditioner (dehumidifier) is a different matter.

Following on from the above..
If you want to run a little slower, and are using (say) a 12V motor, if battery, you don't have to fit 12V worth of batteries.

Bathroom sealant will also work, but tends to be in large amounts.. For the link I gave, you need to create an account. - A bit of a pain, if you are unlikely to buy anything else from them.. I have two recently purchased tubes 'in stock'.. Cost price plus postage, would be less than a tenner. A pri...

Re: Attaching etched brass name plates .
It takes a little time to 'set', so I arrange the loco so the surface you are fitting the plates to is horizontal, and flat.
It holds well (you only need a smear) but will peel off, without damaging paintwork.

I would recommend Servisol silicone adhesive sealant..
Mostly around £8-10 for a 75ml tube, but I have found this:
https://wiltsgrove.co.uk/product-list/s ... /adhesives
Which seems to be a bargain.

Re: Humbrol enamels drying time
Make sure you put the lid on securely. Invert the tin, and let it stand upside down for 20 minutes, or more..
Then you can turn it upright to store it long term.
Don't be tempted to leave it upside down.

Re: Pdf models 3-6V motors
All valid points.. The problem with lower voltages, but a bigger loco, is that the smaller motors are not so good for starting current, and noise (electrical, rather than mechanical). A higher voltage supply, means I can supply a RCT-MR603, which is rated to 3 amps. The RCT-MR601, is only rated to 1...

Pdf models 3-6V motors
Can anybody comment on what batteries they use with these, please?
I am wondering if a 7.2V NiMH pack, would be too much 'over voltage', and ridiculously fast?
Thanks,
Phil.P
