W.E.R. Water Tower refurbishing
Hi, first proper post, the Refurbishment of the water tower at Wytch End.
The tower stands in the Motive Depot (see note 6β¦.) at Wytch End Station, the main station on this line.
The tower had been out for about 12 years and has aged most graciously - rusting and rotting in beautiful dereliction.
The flow rate was minimal and the staff were not happy, so this undertaking will vastly improve the pipe sizes and at the same time repair the bottom of the tank.
What the staff (mainly Mr Allenson driver of the Will O' the Wisp) fail to realize is that the tank is fed from St. Oswald's spring, a small trickle high up on CopperTop hill (see note 72 part A) and will only slightly improve the flow rate during the winter months.
Pipework and fittings were hacked, brazed, bent and filed from various brass and copper parts found in the garage (see note 1).
The delivery pipe was also improved, it had been a small bore plastic tube, this has been replaced with 10mm copper. The flow rate was tested and My Allenson grumbled something about it taking long enough.

Of course I have standards! ... it's just that they can be rather loose at times.

I thought I attached 3 smallish images. I'll wait a bit before trying again.
Also I'll attach the notes.

Excellent. I love the carefully nurtured decepitude and your measures to alleviate it.

That is just brilliant, saving a much used line side building that serves a railway is something to be proud of. Hope you can solve the hole problem without too much destruction.

That's a lovely weathered tower, I hope the part rotted oak sleepers are up to supporting the tank when it's once again full.

If I remember correctly they were made of pine stripwood, but I'm replacing them with oak, good old english oak, non of that colonial stuff.
But, please note... All extra details, flippant remarks and pokes at certain products, etc are all made tonge-in-cheek.
