Ingenious and very neat (as always) solution, Peter.

Re: Ffestiniog Bug Boxes and Flying Benches - first run around the garden

Wow, some really sharp models! :salute: I've been doing a lot of 3d printing lately but I'm starting to think I really could use a laser cutter. I usually end up batching up the flat stuff and running out to the bandsaw to cut it out. https://all3dp.com/2/convert-3d-printer-to-laser-cutter-laser-en...

Brilliant! I'm 2/5 of the way to a matching set. I'd just promised myself I wouldn't build any more coaches for a while too
I have similar problems. From a single rake of coaches, I now have four - and insufficient space to store them all ..... 🫣

Re: Directors' saloon

Now blogged the build.
https://riksrailway.blogspot.com/2023/0 ... coach.html

I'll tidy up the parts and create some standard seating and then upload them to the 3D print files section, in case anyone wants to print out a bog standard 1901 GVT Third Class coach.

Re: Directors' saloon

Well, it's taken a while ........ IMG_3474.JPG IMG_3477.JPG IMG_3479.JPG IMG_3482.JPG A few hiccups along the way - and a regret that I've used old packaging for the windows. Can't replace them now as they are embedded in the sides of the coach. Just trying to decide whether to add curtains ..... Rik

I'm in awe. That one item is in itself a work of art. So how many works of art does your loco comprise, I wonder?
I love seeing how a chunk of brass rod can be turned (geddit?) into a mini masterpiece.

I'll bet it's great just to sit with a glass of something cool on a summer's evening and watch the trains pass by, never quite knowing what will appear next ....

Re: New Beginning for 2022

Captivating to watch. Do the train movements follow a prescibed pattern or is there a random element as to which train moves next?

Re: Improving the IP 'Rapier' kit?

I've just noticed your 'handle' is GWRKev and mine is GE_Rik. Never the twain shall meet ...... ;) I chose this moniker when I created my eBay account many (many) years ago. The website suggested I chose something I was interested in and combine it with my name. As it was in my pre garden railway da...

Re: Improving the IP 'Rapier' kit?

Hi Kevin I've no direct experience with the Rapier kit but I have constructed an Albert kit which is similar https://riksrailway.blogspot.com/2018/07/how-i-constructed-ip-engineering-albert.html Firstly, from my experience, Ivan is very responsive to your sort of request and I'm sure he'll get back ...

Great slow running (through the day and into the night). Really liked the clackity clack through the pointwork.
Took me a while to work out that the tram whistle was actually birdsong, though ;)

Your lawn is almost bowling green standard. Mine is, at best, golf course rough.
As Greg says, an interesting track plan. I like the junction for the branchline.

Here's a couple of videos showing how it is possible to achieve slow running and control with live steam.

Re: First Ever Garden Railway

And regarding slow running with live steam - that’s achievable with Roundhouse, etc? It seems to be. Whenever I Google things to do with live steam and slow running I run into Mamod/MSS owners trying to slow theirs down 😁 I'm probably not the best qualified to answer this question but from what I'v...

This has reminded me that Simon has written the OpenScad code for producing a parametric flared steam dome. https://gardenrails.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=13348&p=166758&hilit=Steam+dome#p166669 I'm wondering whether it might be useful to gather these OpenScad links together in a new sticky thre...
