Re: A Frog (Not a Toad!) In the Canefields

I'll refrain from puns about the abundance of "ribbits" in the bodywork.. Definitely some interesting ideas there, Graeme. Something to mull over.. It's about time I posted some progress. Only been meaning to for three weeks. 01/07/24 The paint was rather stubborn, but eventually wire whee...

Re: Tales from the Brass Monkey Series 1 - Mamod SL1

I believe the black Sl1s were the kit locos, the green ones being factory assembled.

As for the boiler, I once knew but can't remember.. :banghead:
I do know for a fact though, you'll find the answer within this subforum!

Some variety is what makes the narrow gauges so interesting. :thumbleft:

Re: Motor vehicles

I'll echo Chris' comment, with the caveat that 1:16 and 1:24 vehicles can also work quite well, if carefully placed away from anything too different a scale.

Re: A Slightly Larger Ford-powered Project

Thanks fellas. After almost 3 years since I started the job (and 9 years of looking at peeling yellow paint) It's a great feeling to see it looking presentable. Spent yesterday chipping away at it again, I've started going down to Woodford 2 days a week. I find once a week to be stifling, so 2 days ...

Re: A Slightly Larger Ford-powered Project

Well, over the past week (plus an extra trip down on Friday) I got it primed and painted. Today was it's first day back in traffic.

I think it looks the bees' knees without a headlight. Would love a loco without one, myself - too many projects right now..

Re: A very impressive water truck from America

Extremely nice kits, aye. Used quite a few of their whitemetal castings, they've all been excellent - though the shipping to Aus cost more than the hoard of parts ordered.. I've no talent for coming up with names, and all the pictures of tank wagons I have, seem to carry only rusty water! Even...

29/06/2024 Five days of work (across two weeks) later, and the roof is finally repaired and ready to be lifted back into place. The 1/16" / 1.6mm steel sheet is very hard to weld, you spend far more time fixing the holes you've blown through it, than actually making the repairs you set out to d...

Very pleasingly idyllic.

As an aside, I don't think I've ever seen a narrow gauge circus train until now..

That's very kind of you Keith, thanks. I'll have to take you up on that.. Been busy working on the full-size stuff this week, haven't had the chance to strip the frames. Hopefully Friday or Sunday.. At this stage, I'm thinking about styling of the loco, and where it fits in with my future tramway pl...
