Re: Newqidas on the Block

Nice paint job, they do lend themselves to re-working. Grant. PS I like the reflections in the puddle of water, great shot. Thanks Grant. Yes, they're easy to modify and adapt. A cheap starting point too. I have some thoughts about a guards/brake vehicle but not got round to it yet. The puddle is a...

I am very impressed. I like van trains so this is right up my street.

Re: Newqidas on the Block

Here is my part finished Newqida. Inspiration taken from Dougrails conversion, with a colour scheme to match my Maroon Lady Anne and based on the BR blood and custard. It has had the roof anglicised. The picture was taken in very bright sunlight so the colours are not exact, and a little bit of fini...

Re: Paint Colour Reference Chart - Request for Information

Colour matching Roundhouse locos may depend on when they were built as some of their shades changed from automotive paints to RAL colours and might therefore differ. My Maroon Lady Anne is a 2007 build and was painted Rover Damask Red according to Roundhouse. The current Roundhouse Maroon is RAL 300...

Re: What's your loco naming protocol?

My Lady Anne is named after my Granddaughter, Kaitlan Grace. I now have a grandson so an excuse for a second loco?

I don't really think it has made much appreciable difference to lighting mine. It lights from over the chimney, or from under the smokebox.

My one and only loco is named Kaitlan Grace after my granddaughter. All my future locos will also carry ladies names.

Firstly I haven't got one of these coaches. I have no idea what they are, but they look to be cosmetic representations of something. If they are cosmetic then probably ok to remove them if that's what you want to do. Some alternative views and close up pictures may help the more knowledgeable member...

As LNR says, the rods should be straight. No doubt someone will prove me wrong but in view of the forces applied I've never seen bent connecting rods on any locomotives.

Simon, There's tons of info on the interweb. I picked up a bag of scrap brass at a model railway exhibition for less than a quid a few years ago. If there was one tip to pass on, I'd stress that for both soldering and painting the job must be spotlessly clean. Practising on a cheapo kit is also a so...

Inspiring - I'm still hoping to build a Katie myself, when time/funds allow. Lovely to see what you've done and how well it's come out. Your painting tips are very helpful - I think that's the bit that scares me the most! Simon, There are lots of 'bits' that can be scary. Don't let that put you off...

My sympathy too. I had speed/conectivity issues a few weeks back. I am due to be upgraded to the fibre broadband today, (3rd Oct) which I have been assured will eliminate the issues I experienced. Of course I don't have a web site so only emails and browsing were affected. I hope things get sorted f...

I think the work you have done to create yourself a railway is astounding. I simply don't have the time or skills to tackle a project like yours. Well done to you. The coming winter will be a time to reflect on just how much you have acheived and plan the final push.

I was wondering why my subscription had been cancelled without proper explanation. I shan't be renewing with pocketmags or anyone else.

I'll go to the newsagents and if there's anything of interest, pick up a copy. If not it'll stay on the shelf.

I'm in agreement with Tom_Tom_Go. A small line is 100% better than no line. And the Lady Anne is a great locomotive too so I'm sure both will give you a lot of pleasure.

Well done Andrew.

I've no experience of building a railway outdoors so can't comment with any authority. However If I had got that far I would consider the worst part over with and be looking forward to track laying and running trains. Not long now surely?

Certainly, I'm thinking of going into production.  How does GBP500 sound? Best wishes, Dave IMHO it's cheap for something of that quality and complexity. I haven't the skills, tools or knowledge to even think of making something like that. Whilst I'm a steam enthusiast I admire and respect what you...

Hello Jon. I've never used Nitromoors so I don't know. I have had good results on plastic models in the past with caustic soda. Be careful of splashes and don't breathe the fumes. If no one can give you a definitive answer, before you proceed, test your chosen paint stripper on a small inconspicuous...
