I am using Peco SM32 at the present on a raised flat terrace but am looking at trying to expand up the edges of the lawn.
Are there other types of rail which have better traction?

I think old "Bonds" track has steel rail which rusts and thus gives better adhesion. Or so I've heard... Of course it's still subject to getting oil, water and general garden grot all over it, so I don't know how much effect it would have.
You used to be able to pick up 18" lengths with wooden sleepers and nice white-metal chairs pretty cheaply, don't know if you still can.
Cheers,
Andrew.

Is it not the case that more traction equals more friction and therefore will have adverse effects on the performance of locomotives?
Possibly steam power might counter the extra friction but battery power might not?
Are you attempting a steep incline to need this in the first place?

The best things in life are free.... so why am I doing this?
