Standard Gauge

So, I'm sure I've asked about this before, but for the life of me I can't find it.

I've been researching the possibility of a SG feeder. However, by my maths (which are poor), a 16mm standard gauge line would need a track gauge of around 75mm. From what I can gather, this doesn't exist. Have any 16mm modelers ventured into SG feeders?

Or is gauge 3 roughly right!?

You could check out the Garden Railway Specialists´ site and look for Gauge 3. Some nice stuff and it´s near as d@mn it to scale.

The K&NWLR is more modest and has a Gn15 estate line feeding the dual gauge 32/45mm, so I think that the 64mm won´t fit in the space available in my cellar.

16 mm scale is roughly 1:19 so if you wanted to be pedantic you'd go for around 74 mm track gauge to replicate SG. But that means you would be scratch building just about everything bar the buildings. Brave and committed soul to do that.

Gauge 3 is nominally 1:22.5 and 64 mm track gauge. Track and stock reasonably plentiful via Garden Railway Specialist (other suppliers available) who champion it and visually good enough if you are going UK outline to marry with 16 mm scale NG. GRS even do dual gauge track to facilitate this. A la D&RGW ! Max.

My maths gave me 75.3mm as the exact track gauge we'd need (going by 1:19.05), but Gauge 3 looks viable enough

I'm currently building my railway and it will all be gauge 3 apart from a 45mm tram line, so I'm having a narrow gauge feeder line- doing things in reverse to you. Most of my stock is GRS but williams models are worth a look. You could also convert Bachman Thomas items and this could be cheaper. If you need any help let me know. As for track Cliff barker is cheaper and more scale than GRS which uses Tenmill g scale profile rail.
