Interesting one.
I don't think I have ever seen one of these before. When were Roundhouse making them?

i don't know, there's nothing on their museum page about them. I think they where sold by GRS, with roundhouse providing the loco and GRS the tender.

Could that be a RH / GRS Gungadin? Legend has it that only 4 were ever produced .... the cab in the pic is different from that on this video, so I´m unsure.

No, the Gungadin is a 2-6-2, this ones a 0-4-2.
I think the isle of westland railway has one.

There are definitely more then 4 Gunga Din's in existence, but 15 seems about right for the Sheba, until now I've only known about the Isle of Westland one. That estimate must surely be from an auctioneer who doesn't really know what he's got, and given enough people who know what it is I expect it to sell for much more.
"What the hell is that?"
"It's a model icebreaker sir."
"It's a bit big isn't it?"
"It's a full scale model sir....."

It went for £460. Thought it might have gone higher.

Plastic tender, I think. But it´s still a very "reasonable" price, when you see some of the LGB on Ebay.

I agree, but given that it's a very rare loco, I'd though it may have gone higher.

How much did the Pearse Ithon next to it go for? Might have been tempted by that...

I've had a look through some of the other items, they were also selling some 3.5 inch gauge live steam locos. Only one sold, a 0-6-0 GWR side tank, went for £1500

Vectis is holding another train auction next Saturday. a couple of interesting live steam items. a 5 inch gauge NER 2-4-0 tender loco, and a Roundhouse Argyll in good condition going for £600-£800. I don't know how much they were sold for when in production, does this sound like a good price?

The Argyll looks very nice. You'd do well in that price range I'd say. I had one from ebay recently and very pleased with it, ran a treat at the club meet yesterday.
