Ffestiniog Rolling stock for the WVLR

Post by WVLR » Tue Jan 21, 2014 10:28 am

Having already bought two of the Ffestiniog Railway locomotives (Cricceith Castle and Taliesin)
I thought it was about time I got around to building some authentic rolling stock to go behind them.

Rather than going down the complex route of building bogie coaches, I thought I'd start off with some of the
simpler 4 wheel coaches and the early style quarryman's coach seemed the perfect one to start off with.

This is the second attempt before painting, having (hopefully) sorted out one or two little problems with the previous design.

Looks fine - look out for this year's Modeller's Guide - it's on the FR and you might pick up some hints and tips from it!

Looks very good. I have to start off down this route myself soon.

Lovely - looking forward to further progress...

What other FfR stock are you thinking of creating?

Cheers,

Andrew.

Owing to the number of accidents that there have been on my railway
(all down to the same driver) I think I will be building the 4 wheel timber hearse van next :(

Now with some paint, I used Humbrol Crimson No.20 for the body and XF-24
dark grey for the roof, the inside was stained using Radcliffs light oak
oil scumble and is waiting for it's final coat of varnish.

I just need to sort out the couplings and buffers and make the plaques for the sides (again) as I
have just drawn them out in Corel Draw, done something (I know not what) and they've vanished
and of course I hadn't got around to saving it :?

Finished (well as much as anything ever is) detailing added and temporary IP Engineering buffers
until I can find or make something a bit more authentic.
