Thats reet proper grand is that!
A few months back i bought a similar old hornby c/w loco off
ebay with the intention of doing something similar. However the
wheels on mine look alarmingly wobbly and as i don't yet have a track to test it on i have to wait for a visit to a friend's track to
see if it runs as drunkenly as i suspect!
It looks like mine doesn't hold enough oomph in the spring for a very long run. Out of interest how long does yours run for?

Umm I think its a old chad vally thing.
One of the only disadvantages I think is that it only goes in forwards but my railway having a loop at each end it need not to go into reverse
It doesn't run for long but runs at a reasonable speed pulling 4 skips (only because I have 4) over a 70ft length of track twice on one full wind, which isn't too bad I suppose

That's neat - and if you get a chance to video it, I for one would love to see it in action!

Well, there are some reet funny folks over there who count rivets. That has always been regarded as strictly optional by the Garden Railway Squad. After all we have Rule 8, not to mention the original rule book
Rule 1. This club shall be called "The South Merionethsire Railway Society.
Rule 2. There shall be no rules.
I remain perfectly happy with the six foot rule myself, and the old dictum of 'if it looks right, it is right!'
Nice clocky, BTW!

Superb, a loco for people who are too lazy to put batteries in their electric locos they bought because they are too lazy to fire up a steamer.....I approve!
Nice bit of work there & something a little different..

Yes and No you do wind it up but Reece isn't winding you up
The body did come detached from the chassis (with a little help) but that's another story.....

It was a little wet, but we call it liquid sunshine down here in Cornwall and only ran for cover when it started hurting, I think everyone had fun ......

Cheers Josh, works as good as it looks!
As for the bit you added - it derailed on (new laid) dodgy track work (but that's another story) and tipped over and did barrel rolls down a slope which caused the chassis to part with the body
but after a quick visit to my portable workshop the green clocky was soon running again!
