Afonglas and Nant Llywyd evening steamup 2011

Post by laalratty » Sun Jun 19, 2011 8:42 pm

The NWAG running season is really in full swing, with steamups on three consecutive weekends in June. I booked the middle weekend for my traditional evening steamup at some point round the longest day of the year. Hence it was still well light when we finished at quarter past 9, pitty it was starting to rain! Here are some pics

These days, LMSjools turns up more times with locos he has for repair then his own fleet! This lovely Argyll is from the Belah Light Railway

The Fairfield Railway sent their beautiful black Millie

Once again, me and PTLR cecil double headed locos, it is a very strange steamup these days if this dosn't happen. In this case it was Lady Anne's ancient and modern, although Sir Robin's boiler is newer then Uriens!

Sir Robin and Urien burst out of the tunnel

A here is a photo to show what they were pulling. Mr Bond should love this...!

The longest passenger train in ANLR history!!! Thats 13 carriages and I reckon they might have been able to take a 1 more (the one ANLR scratchbuild carriage left in the shed!!)

It had to be done. 4 1/2 years after I got Gwydion, and at last a playmate to double head with

Many thanks to all those who attended, even if it was only for an hour or two.

And finally....

The driver of Guillimot trys to jump from the sinking ship that is the SLR north cattle train. Within the space of 1/2 a lap, the train had derailed and toppled over a further two times  There wasn't much funnier then hearing SLRmidge wailing "Oh not again...!"

What are the blue and white carriages?
They are Brandbright panneled carriages, the pre laser cut versions re-painted into the livery of the pre-grouping Furness Railway. Sir Robin is in the Furness loco livery
