Looks alrite andy, if u redo it, make it nearer to the edges, perhaps use some thinner red. Also, perhaps u shud feed the servo cable down through the frames into the box instead of down the side... ;)

The red looks good against the green tanks. As the others have said I'd put it closer to the edge of the tanks, and use a thinner lining if you have it.

I've got some white lining which I hope to apply to a Mamod SL1 when it is repainted, so it is good to see other people's experiences first.

the red line is the thinnest.

i think the camera makes the line look bigger.

I would of said it's best to mesuare from the edge of the tank inwards, so that it looks cemetrical.

That is looking much better Andy. Well done.

All that is missing now is some Nameplates.

Yes I have that problem as well.

I've decided to name my Mamod SL1 repaint after my late grandfather, Archie, but the IP Jane and IPS Janet need some female names.

I find it rather easy, I use my vast, pointless knowledge of narrow gauge locomotive names, think of a loco the model is similar to, then think of a name similar to the prototype name, and hey presto, you have a name!

Alternitavley, a name them after the builder, or the person who donated the loco to the railway, one way or another I get a name! Although the name rarely sits on the loco  .

Another option is to decide on a theme, e.g. animals, rivers, local places/people, etc. I've gone for bird names on the MVR - so far we have Albatross and Blackbird.

Great Edrig there, lining improves an engine so much :D
My sister riveresk has a great vat of knowledge of welsh mythology for my names, well thats where Gwydion came from, alternatively my 2 small battery engines are named after 2 of my Grandparents

edrig has had a few bits done to it recently.

* means they arent in the picture

they are-

-red rods
-wooden buffers
-painted chimney cap
-darj lamp
-painted drains
-front brass bits on cylinders painted black
-painted reg
-painted reverser
-bbq black painted smokebox, which is close to matt black. but seems to dry properly when fired up.
-bucket
-new exaust pipe, not chuff pipe,   now sounds similar to a coal fired edrig*
-smoke deflector, which is more to deflect water and oil*
- vacume pipes*

next will come some multi height coplings, or somthing diffrent. if i can find some that will fit the edrig buffer holes.
new steps
creme painted cab
maybe some rectangular buffer beams.
maybe rivited tanks
maybe new smokebox

and possibly a new back, one without the hole,   and maybe a painted boiler in the cab.

Wow- certainly a unique Edrig :D
Personally I would say the dumb bufers are perhapes a bit big but otherwise the improvements look great
"What the hell is that?"
"It's a model icebreaker sir."
"It's a bit big isn't it?"
"It's a full scale model sir....."
