New Addition to the fleet

Post by MoelygestLR » Thu Jul 23, 2009 2:39 am

there is a new addition to the MGLR fleet of steam locos (ok so one loco is hardly a fleet!).

As it is late and I ant to go to bed can anyone guess what it is?

(TonyW and Will are excluded as they both know)

all should be revealed tommorrow when im not half asleep
Thanks,

I'm now revising it to a Linda/Blanche/Charles, based on those clues.
But seriously
Get on with it!!!
Tell us!

Ok, Ok, Ok, enough.

As some of you guessed (and very well done) it is a Roundhouse Linda in early FR form. Fully lined in green, Remote control and hopefully with a R/C whistle.

Should match nicely with the FR bug bxes i have in colonel stevens livery.

I should have it in Novemeber this year (that is the earliest i could get my hands on one! the increase in demand has shot up since the discontinuation was announced :o )

there you go, put you all out of ya misery ;)

personally, I cannot wait for it to arrive!

ouch! i wouldn't want to be waiting 4 months for a steam loco. It was bad enough waiting 25 days to steam Urien last year

Sounds like a fantastic engine however :D

Anyone else who wants one will have to wait to january, i managed to get onto the back of the novemeber batch just in time!

I didn't fancy waiting half a year, but i don't get the money to pay for it for a short while and it won't be that long until it arrives!

in the meanwhile Alicia my current Steam engine shall hopefully be visiting Rhos Helsig locomotive works for improvements (including removal of rear bunker and the backsheet being lined!).
Thanks,

I've ordered one too! but it won't be ready until January (I'll be paying for it in December though as the VAT goes up from !st Jan!)
Mine will be converted into Blanche as she is now, I'll need to make a new tender body, new cab sides(at least), dummy piston valves and some sort of dummy front pony truck with just the bottom half of the wheels! I'm in no rush as I have not built the track yet! While our bed and breakfast is quiet (newly started!) I'm working at Tan Y Bwlch station cafe :D I'm counting that money as paying for the engine 8)

Congratulations with the new loco, Andy.
If there is track laid by next summer, we will be very tempted to stay at your guest house on our next visit to ther UK ! I've always wanted to stay at a guest house with a garden railway  It looks fantastic ! It has been booked marked for future !

Welcome to this part of Wales, good to have another local 16miller around!

The frames on Blanche and Linda were extended forwards by about 12 inches when the pony trucks were fitted. The join on the Real Locos is just forward of the cylinders, and although the welds have been ground flat-ish they are still visible. Bearing in mind that Roundhouse have allowed more room between the frames than they should (to allow for 45mm gauging) if you were to extend the frames as per the Real Locos you may be able to have a proper working pony truck on your loco.
