I've seen Mavis running on the Timpdon sheds layout, despite the genearally known idea that geared locos are slow, this one wasn't, it was going like a bat out of hell (in reverse, I don't think it went forwards  ) whislt the owner of the layout and loco was saying "Roundhouse eat your heart out!"

Burnt mamod

Post by Crackingjob » Mon Jun 08, 2009 12:22 pm

Re my burnt mamod (picture above)
Spoke to Alan of Dream Steam who had the photo on his site...no idea where it came from but suggested the burner looks like a Tom Cooper or Salim Burner design...rather than Bownman?... the frames at the back were cut to accomodate it . I does drop down so it i want to keep it i have work to do. if it was Cooper or salim burner that will explain the clack valve on the front as refill valve, which was the earliest refill before Enots.

If anyone has any info on the Loco let me know..ashamed to say i lost details of whom it bought it from

I think matt had one of those burners in one of his mamods once. Not too sure on the make though.
