Fixing a 16mm scale train wreck

Well my rolling stock project for the early summer was decided for me good 'n' proper at PTLRfest (looks like the Ffestiniog barn car is going to have to wait). One carriage to fix and one to totally rebuild. This is what happen when a live steam loco drops on your coaches from great height!


The wreckage. On the left is number 4, the model of Welsh Highland number 24. The end has been totally ripped off, the near side has lost everything above the waist and it has also been cut right through a couple of compartments down. The far side is pretty much unscathed. On the right, the WHR gladstone car has also had everything above the waist removed at one end, and the roof needs replacement (the removeable roof for the ashbury is completely unscathed). This has turned it into a carriage with one open, one closed and one semi open compartment. I think someones missing a trick here. The Ravenglass and Eskdale has coaches of each type


Repair of the Gladstone has started, and will be quite quick. As soon as Urien is finished I'll rip off the old roof, glue these bits back on, replace the missing glazing piece and replace the roof. The ashbury will require more thought, i'm thinking of going for a rebuild using only the roof, floor, ends and seats. it could be based on any of the 7 compartment ashbury carriages, FfR 21 or 22 (rebuilt or unrebuilt), WHR summer coaches, WHR 23 (summer coach cut down), or rebuild as WHR 24 as it is now.

I told my dad and he thinks that you probably just look at this as an opertunity to improve, I think that's nuts.

aye, pretty much everyone has said afterwards just think of it as an opportunity to come up with an even better coach, if it had been the Gladstone i'd been in problems, as that was the first one I felt I got really right. However the ashbury never looked right to me, as dad had made quite a bad job of the windows and it looked wrong with the other Welsh Highland coaches

no I think it's a good idea. I've got a 10th doctor model and a dalek model which are about 16mm scale, so we could remake the episode how it should have been.

Yes, but unfortunatly, I don't have the technology to create a wormhole in time and space to linkl this world with a desert world.

My friend Duncan knows how too, but he needs a few dozen Nukes to make his theory practical.

the electrics in our landing light is a bit funny so when you switch it on and off too fast it greates a wormhole, happens all the time

aye, i've already come up with riveresked, this is topic sent off topic on a doctor who or torchwood tangent (these are her favortie topics of conversation y'know!)
The lead from Midge will probably be going to other coaches, there is not enough for the whole fleet, but when number 8 and number 4 return they will be suitably leaded. It was the buffet car that started the whole thing off I seem to remember because it was loose on its bogies
