Mini Me

Post by laurence703 » Wed Apr 13, 2016 9:19 pm

Hi all,

Peterborough show this year had a stand called Ard Digital who scan you and then print a 16mm scale mini me! I got myself scanned and was wondering how many others did?

Also how would one go about painting mini me?

Look in the mirror... Which is something I find quite distressing

I bought three of their reject figures for £5 each. I don't know who's daddy I will have driving two of my locos. They had incomplete hands etc. all things that could be put right fairly easily.
To paint them I would clean up the finish of faces etc with a fine wire brush and then wash them in soft soap or similar.  I would then give them an overall priming with spray acrylic primer probably grey.  Once dry I would hand paint detail with acrylic craft paints and finally give it an overall coat of matt acrylic varnish.
There is lots of advice on painting large scale military figures on You Tube and elswhere on the internet.  This is a very good source of advice.

Hope it works ok.

Hi Laurence,

Thanks for coming along, I hope you received the figures OK. Please share some pictures, and if you like I can add them to the gallery on my website.

Andy - The figures you bought at Peterborough should have been complete, and we generally give away our rejects for people to practice finishing on. Can I ask which figures have incomplete hands?

I will also be putting together some videos / tutorials on how I think the figures can be easily finished, just need to find some free time, or even if anyone wants to write one for me, I can happily supply several figures FOC for any tutorials.

Thanks,
Dean
