A Weekend of Steam!
Saturday just been saw the visit of myself, Laurence703 and DLRdan to Butterley which much chaos ensuing...
Laurence brought along Ofario and Superior
Whilst I brought along Pheonix and Britomart
As seen from the photos, after Britomart's farewell at Brambleton earlier in the year, the locomotive was allocated a B+ exam, resulting in it receiving a Gremlin Burner to help it through it's last few months of service.
Pheonix decides it doesn't like rails anymore....so whilst me and Laurence attempt to sort out my stack up...
Britomart grew something...
A pat on the back goes to who can see where the inspiration comes from for the tender!
...and as the tender was now attached, it would have been rude not to test it out...
After some running, Laurence then smuggled me into his car and the drive up to North Wales begun, to visit the PTLR (Wales) the next day, as seen by Ofario heading down the bank before breakfast
Pheonix and Superiour came out for a run
Whilst Britomart and Ofario still continued to power on up the bank
However the day was ended with Resurgam's quarry hunslet coming out for a play
Many thanks to Resurgam for the hospitality over the Sunday and also for Dan for the extra wear on his car springs heading home on Saturday

Cheers for the comments!
...and there is nothing wrong with whitewalling
It isn't being retired for scrapping, it's been retired from "front line" service (i.e. being taken to every steam up I go to) for overhaul as anyone who has seen the loco run will tell you how badly the front wheels dance when the loco is in motion...Andrew:97616 wrote:Lovely photos, thank you. But why is the iconic Britomart to be retired? Is the poor thing just worn out? White wheel rims might be in questionable taste, but surely they're not a scrapping offence?!
Cheers,
Andrew.

In other words, the cylinders wobble less than the wheels.
