I'm making a loco at the moment that's based on a Kerr Stuart diesel. I assume the radiator was centrally placed in the cab? Was there a reason that KS put the radiator in the cab as opposed to the front?
Thanks.

Re: Kerr Stuart diesel queries
The radiator is central in the cab both ways, transverse and longitudinal. It comes a long way into the cab and is just forward of the door opening. About half the motor is in the cab as well.listerboy:85628 wrote:I'm making a loco at the moment that's based on a Kerr Stuart diesel. I assume the radiator was centrally placed in the cab? The Kerr-Stuart brochure 'Fifteen Shillings Change' claims it is located there to keep the cab cool in hot climates, as it draws air in from the cab and keeps it ventilated.
........and if you believe that, I can do you a really good deal on the Forth Bridge.
The sloping bonnet is full of transmission, so it probably just ended up in the cab so the fan could be easily driven off the motor crankshaft.
If you don't already have it, the IRS have recently reprinted the above mentioned brochure. Useful if building a model of one of these beasts.
