Leaking Butane Gas Cannister

Whilst preparing lunch today something was smelling 'off' with a distinctive smell which Febreze would not neutralise.

Sniffing around I found the source - a half full cannister of GoSystem butane gas which was leaking through the self-sealing safety EN417 valve. Trying both my adapters could not get the valve to seal so the cannister was put outside whilst I got my only 2 available gas fired locos ready to use up the remaining gas.

I standardised on GoSystem gas as it is recommended by several traders & 16mm Groups.

Probably a 'one-off' failure - Anyone suffered a similar problem with GoSystem gas?

I've only once had a simular problem again to do with the valve. When I tried to fill my edrig with gas, the gas poured out from around the thread as soon as you put any pressure on the adapter, thus resulting in just as much gas escaping: just as much going in the loco. I then had to leave lighting the loco for a few minutes whilst the escaped gas that had dripped all over it evaporated.

I use a Sunni gas stove on my boat for making tea and for Ragleth and have had 3 leaky valves in3 years. For this reason I keep them in the gas locker out of harms way. The 3 that leaked were all in the stove in the galley!
