Driver Model for IP Eng Lollypop Railcar

Post by Chris Cairns » Tue Oct 30, 2012 6:27 pm

Having recently suffered damage from a falling object in my workshop (kitchen) I'm keen to complete this stalled project before it gets damaged any further.

To complete the model I'm looking for a scale model driver (standing or sitting) to fit inside the open cab. I have several drivers from Modeltown but these are all too big, particularly the sitting driver which I think was originally for a Lister (Modeltown have changed the driver figures they now use for each loco).

He is too big to even sit down properly!

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank You.

He is a bit chunky. Try this:

Joke aside, a standing tram or bus driver, maybe a conductor figure?

I've got a seated "G scale" figure - he'd look very small alongside a 16mm driver, but since he'd be the sole occupant of the cab you can have him to try if you like?
I'll take & post a photo tomorrow ;)

Thanks Guys, some food for thought there.

Just been trying to get my head around scales. 16mm is approx 1:19, but I know that original Mamods are not true 16mm. G-Scale is approx 1:22.5 but I just been looking at some traders on-line and it seems to vary between 1:20 to about 1:32 for their figures - quite a difference.

Certainly the Lollypop Railcar is not 16mm, more like about 1:24.

So I'll keep looking for a suitable 1:24 figure - even my Playmobil figures will not fit as they do not bend at the knees so would need to stand to one side of the seat.

If you are willing to go with an LGB figure, there are many out there and you are bound to find one that would work.

Greg,

A photo would be great perhaps against a ruler or something similar so I can get an idea of size. Problem with most listings on-line is they do not give any size to their figures.

Thank You.

Here he is alongside a ruler and Model Town figure.

As I said, he's considerably smaller when directly compared to another figure, but on his own should look OK (after all, people are all different sizes??).
The fact that his head and arms are poseable should be an advantage, making him "fit" the cab better.

Anyhow, just let me know if you want him and I'll pop him in the post ;)
