More 'bird houses' for the lineside

A couple more 'houses' added to my line side. one of then is a bird house and the other is a bird feeder , both are bought cheap at the local hardware store .

There was a little one sold in the US that looks like a halt, sold by the Tractor Supply Company.

Being UV resistant and MUCH cheaper than Pola, Piko, et al, they do have an application for use.

25 odd years ago, I took one of my mother's Rubbermaid brand covered bridge bird feeders (the squirrels ate the plastic lining out of it) and cut the guts out and made a covered bridge out of it. A Mamod loco JUST cleared the inside.

I agree , they are cheap sources of line side buildings , especially in countries where garden railway supplies are not easily available.
They are made for outdoor use so are relatively durable, i have also sprayed mine in with transparent lacquer to add to its weather resistance.

[FBGR]

Here is a couple of 'bird houses' that have been outside on the FBGR for about 7 years.

They did not have any extra protection, and the FBGR is within a mile of the sea - extra varnishing or putting them in a more sheltered location may have reduced the rate of delapidation - but they look nice anyway.
