He can't enter next year - he's going to be a Judge! (Mind you, between you and me, it's a cunning ploy to get him to come to the Show so he can bring the trophy back.............)

Superb as ever.... but was not in the Diplock but Rolling stock section and won the Diplock..so brilliant is he!

Yes I hear back as a Judge, though its possibly as someone is off to Uni to study chemistry and they are fearful of what he might create....I can't wait!!!!

Studying chemical engineering at Uni next year will eat up my time rather a lot hence I may not enter next year
As I said I entered for the passenger section and was moved to the diplock section. Was rather bemused to hear I had commended in the passenger stock as well though. Not sure what went on there.

Problem is I have too much rolling stock I'll have to move on to locos and buildings now...

How about making a working ethanol/methanol distillery? The hobby needs a source of high-quality meths (ie stuff that doesn't turn the brasswork green), and that would make the DVLR a real working railway rather than a plaything. Might be worth having a word with HM Customs & Excise, though. They have views on the manufacture of ethanol...

there was an interesting piece on "Coast" last night about plans for a new turbine in Norway using osmosis with salt and fresh water. The concept for a new, renewable energy source "Osmotor"??

Not necessarily. There is a whole hobby of indoor/outdoor model aircraft powered by CO2. I think they use metal ampoules originally designed for soda syphons as a fuel source, and all manner of reciprocating engines. I don't know if these would have enough grunt to shift a garden railway train, but someone could have a lot of fun finding out.

Well if Mr Bond starting brewing his own beer instead of buying it, he would find that sugar plus yeast plus water equals CO2 and alcohol good ol fermentation so a brewing wagon would create its own power of propulsion and supply the pub wagon at same time Cheers!
