Dont forget to put a drain under that downpipe as you may get the build damp at its foundation Im assuming your guttering will collect rainwater I use an open barrel on some builds but a length of pipe underground to a soakaway diverts it away.

That's a great idea, I might look at putting in a grate on the platform with pipework to take the water away. Had thought of having some drainage pipes in the platform wall, just fake, but could plumb them into the grate.

Now the building is finished I've decided to tackle the platform.

I've taken some tips from this website http://www.gardenrailwayclub.com/worksh ... rockbank-1 particularly the idea of using mosaic tiles.

I found a couple of tiles going cheap.

The one on the left was in a larger 30x30cm tile, mesh backed that I could slice up. These were built up to form the walls.

These were shaped to form the platform as required. I've built the walls using grout, with wire coat hangers cut and fixed at random points (to add strength when concrete is added in the middle!). The plastic on the base is ducting for wiring up station lamps and the uprights will be either fence posts or are placeholders for lamps/signs.

That is very inventive, It may be wise to place the wiring in the ducts before you add the concrete as getting small wires to bend through 90 degrees in small ducting can be entertaining. It is looking good.

The ducting across the base is actually half pipes, so it'll be open. Once I've threaded the wires up the vertical I'll tape the base up with gaffer tape

Thinking ahead as I suspect the wire will degrade before the platform does, allows me to replace it easier.

Stanley Station opens in time for summer!

Sadly the regular MMS steam service is still in the shed for "firebox" repairs and the IP diesel replacement is still in "manufacturing".

Summer months should see regular passenger services to Stanley!
