Winter Madness at the PTLR

Post by laalratty » Sat Dec 10, 2011 8:53 pm

Today a contingent (well there were 2) of Ffestiniog firemen joined a small group of the rest of the NWAG at the Pine Tree Light Railway. You might have guessed the firmen were our former chaiman SillyBilly Will and also James "it's on fire!" Dolwyddellan-light-rail. As usual when people under 30 outnumber those over 30 things got totally chaotic at times, and some hilarity ensured! (Alas, Britomart wasn't on fire as much as we hoped with would be, and didn't make enough steam as a result) Anyway, there was a nice mix of locos with some good running between the chaos. Here are some pics
Image
Britomart at the bottom of the CGRL and about to run out of steam. More fire required!!!

Meanwhile, from the Fairfield Railway came Argyll, the Atlantic. Radio issues from the past have finally been resolved with this loco, and it ran very nicely indeed
Image
When Argyll ran out of gas, James and Britomart had delusions of graduer.....

Double headed mamods at Dragley Beck, which worked (briefly!)

Snowdon ran much better then Britomart, and was in steam what felt like all afternoon
Image
Also from the Fairfield Railway came their lovely Millie, now fully detailed by the PTLR works

Two level running

Finally, Taliesin on the Ffestiniog train, it also double headed with the Coniston Railway's lined Linda.
Thanks to Will and James for making the effort to visit, and PTLRcecil for putting on the steamup, for the first time, without the presense of his dad PTLRsam

The first derailment of the day went to Laalratty, after he managed to derail Lyn on the CGRL

Now I'm itching to try and work my magic on Britomart. Such a nice little engine too. It could be of great help to me as well.

Make it steam super well again. :D As for helping me? Simple - as asked on Mamodside, what paint/paint system [inc primer] have you used and does it melt/soften/run / how does it hold up? :)

Simples

Oh bu99er! Is it really scratched  I'm really sorry if it was mate, the point obviously hadn't thrown over when the last train went up the CGRL and it split the points, not a lot I could do about it

Like I said its repairable. Oh by the way sorry mate I was testing Cardoc and it blew off the line into a 20ft deep hole.... filled with nytro glycerine and plutonium.......then a dog ate it........ and consequentilly blew up 4 seconds later. Now the remains have been vitrified and fired at Noth Korea, Whom have responded with a full Nuclear assault, so if you do wake up as a small ash cloud in the morning, my bad :D
