Kissing a Frog

In my eyes the new mamod is a very ugly beast. Today I have been doing a job for a customer on one. He wanted it to look like a real engine and decided he wanted a proper smokebox and chimney on it.
So I have sawn off the old chimney flat (be careful if doing this the brass boiler is VERY thin walled) And fitted a new smokebox and chimney, then re-directed the steam up the chimney.

He had seen an article in gardenrail which apparently didnt use a new smokebox and the chimney was car fillered onto the boiler :? each to their own. As Frank said, ' I did it my way'

Nah, I would have done if it wasn't for the poorly tapped threads on everything else. I really didn't want to take anything apart which I didnt need to.

if it wasn't for the poorly tapped threads
AAAgh! Memories of sundays "conversation"!

Was the smokebox a convenient sized tube or have you had to roll it? (and did you turn the chimney??)
