First run with Russell

Post by taliesin001 » Sat Jan 29, 2011 6:27 pm

I have had this loco for a couple of months now but have never actually run it. Today I did so. There are a few problems with the radio but by using it carefully I was able to have a couple of good runs. I am glad that I now have something proper to pull my WHR coach as it has hardly run since I built it. I also tried it with the FR rake, with 11 slate wagons attached to the rear, making up into a very heavy train which made the loco sound great when climbing the gradient. This might be the last time I use it because I am currently making up my mind whether to sell it or nor. After finding that two other locos needed their radio charging I opted instead to take the mamod along too. It pulled 11 weighted slate wagons along with the quarrymans coach and ran extremely slowly. Thanks Ian for letting me use the line. Below are pics of the day...

Nice set of photo's - why on earth would you want to sell Russell when as you say it's a perfect compliment to your coaches???

The Mamod is looking excellent :D

Some really really "cute" buildings on that line. I especially like the watermill and timber framed house with the round window. Are thet scratchbuilt??

I didn't make it clear, I'm thinkihg about selling the FR coaches not the russell. At the moment my interest is more toward the WHR but we'll see.
As for the buildings I'm not sure, I don't think they are scratchbuilt but might be wrong. If spooner sees this then I'm sure he will tell you, a PM might be better.
