dont strip it down.. take it to you model engineering society place it somwhere where mess wont be a problem and give it an almighty blast with compressed air.. I had a similar problem and that way worked for me.

I know what you mean mate, when I had my first Mamod, it was sent to him and it came back with scratches and big chips in the paintwork... Buying my 2nd Mamod, he didn't seem to want to do business, and when to getting a quote for an Edrig, he was bloody rude.

Having said that, a lot of people who have actually VISITED his shop have said he's really nice and friendly... odd

Always been very friendly to mee too even when i go to visit his shop at 7:30 in the evening lol (of courrse prior to arrange ment on the phone earlier that day ) Very helpful as well when i had a problem with the gas inlet valve after buying edrig i took it back he had a fiddle and replaced the inlet valve the gas bottle adpater free of charge only to find out that it wasnt the valve or the adapter it was just he had been delivered a box a 'dud' gas cans =/ so he gave mee 2 new ones for free (well as well as my dad helping him with a IT problem lol )

I'v never had any problems with him. Although I can definately see that giving back a loco in that state is just bad buisiness.

Having read this thread I must say that's a ridiculous state to receive a loco back from PPS in

For what it's worth, I've never actually done business with them but I have got in touch via Email and 'phone in the past with enquieries with a view to buying something.
Each time the responses were so bad that I ended up taking my money elsewhere!
End result? I would only use PPS if ever they had something that I wanted and simply couldn't get anywhere else!!!!!!

In my experience he just seems to be very rude in his mannerisms and un-wanting to help or even admit that he is wrong! The one time he did however was when I got some name plates from him and River Alde was spelt River Aloe! But giveing a loco back with a buffer missing- I mean really!?!?
I sent the loco well packed in a box of foam chips wrapped in bubble wrap. Why couldn't he have reused my box to send it back to me or even the foam chips rather than cruddly crumble polystyrene? It is just annoying to be honest with you and not the way I expect to be treated as a customer. Thinking of it from the beginners point of view- I would be totally put off garden railways if this was the treatment I got!
