Well this was not fair

i put a bid in for £91 in the last 30 seconds for http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0538531412 and in the last 6 seconds 2 other people bid

Wot William said... if you'd stuck in a bid higher than theirs you'd have won anyway, regardless of how late they'd bid.

I've fallen foul of "sniping software" several times - both as a bidder and seller (the guy was out of the country when his winning bid was placed in the last second, natch he never payed or answered messages until he got home, leaving me on the brink of reporting an "unpaid item"

)

I once nealy bought a mamod at 60 pounds. It was nice and had all the mods on it then at the last second a bid went on it at 80 pounds!
Thats just cheating I say!
And stupid- he paind about 16 pounds more than he did have to have beated my bid!

Not true- there must have been two bids other than yours- if your max bid was £60 then he could have put in £2000 and still only paid £62, or whatever increment eBay had decided to use.

I have used sniping software, only very occasionally though. Used a free one so the lead time was about 10 seconds, got a few bits and bobs for less than I think I would have done otherwise. That was when I had a particuarly bad internet connection though- I usually just bid in the last 30- odd seconds.

Software that you can tell to bid on an item for you- it sticks your maximum bid in a few seconds before the auction ends.
