The varnished woodgrain looks most convincing and beautifully finished. I like the wear on the balcony steps too!

Agree with Aaron, the closer you look the more you see and double running boards too. Top job.

Thank you all for your kind words! I'm very pleased with this one and looking forward to some more varnished carriages in the near future.
I think it would benefit from light weathering but am rather nervous on that front, about spoiling it. I might just do a wash with dark grey to leave some soot in the corners - has anyone else got some weathered carriages for inspiration?
