Next restoration projekt: a storkleg

Post by Scrat » Wed May 06, 2026 2:05 pm

This loco came in today:

Good condition, just needs new seals.
Loco might be Schoenner, tender could be Bing.
Schoenner made locos that were equipped with Bing tenders.
Tender coupling was broken.
Loco runs well on air.

Maybe I can do a steam test during the weekend.

The high pitch of these whistles might attract all the dogs from the neighbourhood.
I gave her a good cleanup, oiled everything, put new gaskets where necessary and of she went.
As you might expect by the huge drivers, she does not pull much but takes off like a rocket.

Ah .

That a stork leg . They date back to the early 1900s I believe . Good to see it has lasted so well.
