I have bought some Faller e-train track for a new project. The short straight tracks (about 65 mm long) all have one rail cut and a strange coil. Is this a special track or are all short straight tracks like this? What is it for?
I thought it might be used with the points, but the points do not switch the track power. I will not use track power anyway, so I guess I just remove the coils as they look a bit weird.

Re: Faller e-train track
The track has a split in it, so it's just to pass current through for when using track power. If you don't need track power then by all means it's fine to do away with.

I guess the idea is you could use it as an isolating track, if you wanted to.
