A bus is a useful feature on any roadway, but far too expensive to buy an accurate scale model and too time consuming to make by hand. I was at my local 'In Excess' and spotted a stack of ornamental double deckers for £14:95 each. The doorway height showed that it was a little under scale but would not look out of place on a more distant road section. It is made of sheet metal and hand painted but I am testing it for rust resistance outside and it may need a thicker paint layer. I don't wish to keep transporting scenic items indoors. It is produced by 'Kreatif Krafts' normally on sale for £24:95.

That is a nice approximation of an AEC Routemaster.
A little application of black or red paint may help tone down the headlights.
As for weather proofing, a coat of clear spray lacquer may help.
If at first you don't succeed, use a bigger hammer!
