Re: Vale of Fairway
Getting close to it. Managed to fit chains, brake and stuff box/crate. I have treated myself to some Talisman skip couplings. A luxury at 6 quid a pair but look the business. So tight I've only put one at each end. Still need to weather the brake, fit a handle and cut a couple of wedges for the box.

A shot of the first log train to the wood yard site. There were some videos shot but presumably too big for photo bucket so not able to post them but will wrestle with them again later.
Joe's approach to health and safety is to sit tight, close his eyes and trust to Ted's driving.

In the Forest sheep have roaming rights hence the background noise from the green beside the house....

If I was a human video editor this would link 2 and 3, climbing the spiral. The station area at the top of the incline has a complicated run round that requires a loco to leave the station and reverse around the far end of the main railway. Video 4 when I get there. Perhaps these two photos will help.

I guess the next step in my IT evolution is doing this as one video...living and learning. Hope they give a better over view of the topography. I must start some buildings to help the geography...
PS the final video of the shunt into the wood yard that ended in a derailment didn't work, all I have is a single shot - school boy error... drizzle stopped a reenactment..

That is a great space you have there for your railway.
The video quality is fine. YouTube takes a while for newly uploaded videos to render to HD quality...

Wow! what a wonderfully photogenic railway you have. The bridges, the yards, the whole setting looks superb.
Ted's driving must have been OK as Joe is still there at the end!
Inspiring stuff, thank you.
Grant.

Great pics and video - loving the log rider! Must get some people onto my freight trains - the kids love spotting people on the trains!
Where did I put that uncoupler?

Re: Vale of Fairway
I do love the Rob Bennett figures and first to admit I wasn't originally a fan. Just my luck that he may be winding down a bit. He was at the AGM I gather but couldn't face a hike to Peterborough. Old Joe came with a set of Bolsters I ordered from Rob which was an interesting experience...perhaps I'll have to have a bash at building some figures but have to say Rob is an artistic genius that will be difficult to emulate.
Here's a shot of all I could easily muster for a different tug of wagons. I think I may need to rebuild my first skip builds as the early axle boxes are giving quite a height difference when coupling. Superglue debonder where are you??

Found this bad boy on the seven eighth lounge yesterday. Built by that clever Simon Harris it's a conversion of an HGLW, nee busted bricks, flatty. Given I have 4 unmade kits here got me wondering. I should build the water tanker but being the master of too many projects on the go at once.........

An experiment with picture posting sorry. Other forums are already showing photo bucket blanks so my days are numbered and struggling to resize on my tablet. Switched to sending to a pc or dragging from messenger on the pc then dragging across. The forum is too good to lose so got to find an alternative that is easy for an I.T. buffoon.
Messenger picture - Saturdays was Harvey's first train trip although the lovely Irish lady behind him who fed him some of her banana and her ice cream was more interesting. Brecon Mountain Railway, a nice drop of scenery and a Hunslet (Sybil) and De Wintons in the museum.
E-mail picture - The HGLW wagon is undergoing surgery and has received 110 rivets to date. I could do with a smaller coupler. Fate comes in equal measures, the sides and strengthening angle came exactly to one length of Evergreen and no waste. The wood for supporting the ends doesn't fit between the rivets and the coupling block. twas ever so.

Re: Vale of Fairway
At some point I have two pictures of a before and after of a new loop. Tried to do the same as this morning and got myself in a pickle. Not helped by the works pc having a 211 keyboard error where no keys work
all good fun and the loop works but a dodgy r1 needs a look at in daylight.

Re: Vale of Fairway
Clue is in the error, is it a laptop? Try plugging in an external keyboard if so otherwise replace the current one.bazzer42 wrote: Thu Jul 06, 2017 10:17 pm Tried to do the same as this morning and got myself in a pickle. Not helped by the works pc having a 211 keyboard error where no keys work.

Great looking railway. Be interested in seeing more (when you get keyboard sorted).

Re: Vale of Fairway
It's only taken 15 minutes to get these resized, the lap top keys working so will have to make the most of the moment. Don't tell Mrs B as I should be cleaning windows.
Having been taken by a layout picture with a nice wide run round loop and after watching my own video decided a loop was needed. It didn't take too long as my original lgb layout joined this siding albeit before the platform went in and from the other side of the platform. I would have posted pictures of Ted track testing but the batteries were flat at 5.00 so didn't start until 10.00...not my day for technology.
Just can't stop typing now. It was the best of times (playing trains), it was the worst of times (cleaning windows)..

Another picture posting experiment using pixlr as an app to resize, let's see.....is this Baldrig in steam?

Re: Vale of Fairway
Posting dried up a little with the photobucket debacle. The busted bricks flattie conversion has got to the paint stage but need to resolve the coupling block I.e. spend some money on swift sixteen dumb buffers. Started to rewheel my early builds that always looked like a skip chassis on tip toes. The fuel browser went easily however Bachman wheels are too big for a flat bed. This flat wagon runs on smaller slaters 7/8th skip wheels that are lovely to look at but with a very stubby axle. Have a niggling fear that a sudden jolt and the wheels will fall out
I don't suppose it's exciting news but just need to experiment with the new app.
