Everything from plain song/liturgical chant to very loud metal music. I spent today driving around the parish listening to Iron Maiden's Powerslave. Last week it was the best of the Brighouse and Rastrick Brass Band.

Classical and classic '80's rock. My parents were very much into classical so I heard a lot of it as a kid. Hated it then, now I love it.

Absolute favourite....  Beethoven's 9th (choral) symphony with Berlin Phil. under Karajan....  followed by more Beethoven, Wagner, Grand Opera,  Motown, Cajun, Tina Turner and Eric Clapton.
Modern music is poor in comparison just trying to be different without the quality... much like the art world.

My musical tastes are incredibly wide and pretty much all encompassing. Everything mentioned so far is definitely on my approved list. My choice depends upon my mood but most frequently I can be found listening to Jazz these days, although Metal comes a very close second. I love any music that comes from the heart, rebel songs are particularly emotive in general. I wouldn't say there is anything I dislike but I probably enjoy Country least of any genre.

At three in the morning on a Saturday night shift, when I'm trying to stay awake and completely take my mind off why a Road/Rail vehicle refuses to do what it should, or unplug my brain and stay awake driving home at the end of the shift, I can even see merit in Acid House or similar 'hard' modern music. I wouldn't buy it though, that's what Radio 1 is broadcast 24/7 to provide!

I pretty much like anything except perhaps hiphop. House music and jazz is often played in the workshop. I've recently developed a taste for punk, my favourite band being Stiff Little Fingers.

Oooh not metal or punk here but pretty wide-ranging otherwise.. Mostly time-warp 80's stuff - Sylvian/Japan, the Smiths, China Crisis. I suppose the 70's should be my era but apart from Stackridge, Steely Dan and Supertramp (seems like any group beginning with S) don't go there that often. Can cope with Vaughan Williams and jazz in small doses.
Last 4 cd's bought - Kraftwerk, the Kinks, Bowie and Cat Stevens....what does that say?? At least Kraftwerk was TEE so railway related!

Kraftwerk, what a guilty pleasure. I only get to listen to them when I am on my own.

Kraftwerk - couldn't believe how fast UK tour tickets sold recently. Looked in the evening of release to book the colston hall in Bristol and the whole country sold out! Bizarre..

That's uncanny - the album I bought was Village Green Preservation Society with that track on there.

An eclectic mix I suppose.
All the usual 60's and 70's greats. My favourite 60's band being the Small Faces.
Big Peter Gabriel fan, and 'world music' in general. African music, esp Salif Keita, Ali Farka Toure ,Toumani Diabate etc.
Folk music....went to see Bellowhead on farewell tour.
Finn Bros; seen them live and also 30 years previously as Split Enz.
Some classical ; mainly Beethoven and Baroque

I enjoy music of most all types, but at the tops of my list is the Irish group The Corrs and music by Vince Guraldi (music from the Peanuts cartoons). I listen to anything from industrial rock from Disturbed/Rammstien to contempory Jazz and classical. Just depends on my mood at that time. Mike
