Lynton & Barnstaple 4 wheel Box Van - Tenmille Kit - Pic

Post by alan2525 » Wed Sep 17, 2008 7:45 pm

I purchased the L&B 4 wheel box van, and open wagon kits by Tenmille. The instructions are hopeless and don't even include a drawing showing the finished van with the detail photo etch parts fitted.

Does anyone have any photos of L&B freight stock so I can interpret where the iron strapping goes? There seems to be rather a lot of it, and I can only work out where the corner brackets and door gear go...

Not too impressed by the quality either, one part has a great big knot hole which has had an infill piece inlaid, which has all split out
where the plank details is engraved. The engraved plank detail also runs out to nothing on one end, where the ply wasn't flat when it was machined, the plywood doors are all split along the grain too.

They will still make up into a fairly good model, but I'll need to
remake some parts as I wanted to keep the inside of the van, matt
varnished, and wont be able to use any filler. I might return the open wagon though as thats the one with the worst engraved parts.

You could try a google search, or I could take a picture of my accucraft 4 wheel wagon so you know what the strapping is like for that if you want

That would help, I've found a pic of the accucraft box van on the net, but in the pic it's dark brown and there's not much detail.

Cheers, I'm really after a shot of a L&B 4 wheel box van too. I've got about 16 etched brass angle bits to go on the corners but only seem to use half of them?
