Driving wheels?

Hi all,
For my project to build Moel Tryfan I have run into a problem. Unfortunately my engineering center is unable to machine the complex shapes of the wheel...
Does anyone have any idea of someone who a company who could make them?[/i]

How similar are they to the ones under Taliesin? Walsall have a casting for those.

I'd probably just bog up the existing oval holes with epoxy and drill the extra holes. Devcon do metal filled epoxies for that sort of job and there'd be plenty of metal left to hold it all together.

No idea if Walsall does specials.

I wouldn't overthink the wheels. Once they are painted black and under a footplate, they are hard to see. Superdetailing them is overkill unless the rest of the model is going to be museum standard.

Stewart Brown built his Snowden Ranger models in the distant past and there was no CNC back then, so it's not impossible to make reasonable looking wheels with a manual lathe.

One way would be to turn the wheels in the usual way out of a steel disc and drill the openings. The crankfaces can be cut out of sheet metal and silver soldered in place on the wheel face. They could even be epoxied or soft soldered in place, as they would be retained by the crankpins and axle ends and under minimal load.
