As some of you will already know, I've started to build my garden railway.
It's best not to ask "how have you gotten away with doing that?" as the answer is not a pretty one...

So... The plan...

Nice big corners and flowing lines... in reality its a slightly different story... It dives between plants in the long flowerbed and is laid directly onto the decking...

I roughed out the passing loop before I laid it. It came out a bit bigger when it were laid but only slightly.

The line is constructed using decking board, fence post and metposts through the flowerbed. I plan on making it look like an embankment.

And this is as far as it goes for the minute in this direction. Ran out of track!

A good start, keep it up. By this time next year the flowerbed section will look as though its been there for ever!

A box of track arrived today, so come payday and once the various bills are paid, I'll go and buy some more metposts and do the next bit! fingers crossed there's enough to complete it.

Its gotten longer this evening. It would have been much longer but B&Q only had two metposts...

Looking good! I've been using either concrete or post-fix recently - you don't need that much to support 16mm-trackbed sized timber, could be a alternative to Metposts?

Yes, an ambitious radius, but nothing that a little engineering can´t cure.

It's roughly 4ft radius but its not a continuous 4ft radius so some surgery will be required

Could the 'surgery' include an excursion through the side of your shed and out at the front to join the existing track?

The leek and manifold will be coming from the mysterious and magical land known as Doncaster...

It won't be going in the shed... I hate the shed... I don't like going inside it and will only go in it to retrieve the lawn mower and strimmer every so often... it is home to a few rather large 8 legged things that I really do not like so I stay well away from the shed if I can

Learn to 'love your shed'. It is a great asset when it comes to storage and workshop, as well as shelter when eventually you hold open days for visitors.
The eight legged things are more frightened of you and will take themselves elsewhere when you move in. Anyway, they don't bite!

No... I've always hated my shed... every shed I've ever had I've either stood on a nail or massive spider things in the corners... never a good thing... besides... my bedroom is my workshop at the moment but that'll change in time.

Still plodding on! The track bed on the main line is now completed and just the siding by the shed to go!

And the typical rubbish british weather has rained off any further progress today...
