Re: Gorilla glue, good or bad?

I've just seen an advert. for 'gorilla glue'.  It seems too good to be true for garden railwayers.  Has anyone any positive or negative experience of this stuff? Which Gorilla glue? I found the advert in the Nov Garden Rail magazine and there is a picture of a bottle of glue called 'gorilla glue' w...

I'm a firm narrow gauge 16mm/ft chap and my experience of Gauge 1 standard gauge is limited to watching the brilliant 'Anglia Roads' layout that I've seen numerous times at The Southwold Model Railway exhibition.  There it is run in a marquee outside. If you do nothing else, you should spend some ti...

Steam up at Eddie Bull's Brinkley Light Railway

Hi all,

I got to Eddie Bull's well known railway on Sunday 06/10/2013 and filmed this video. Hope it works.

Glad to read you got the drilling sorted.  I have my sm32 on my running lines screwed into bricks laid on concrete and hardcore so I suffered like you.  I'm glad I stuck with it though. A thought, if you want to develop sideways off the solid trackbed is to use filcris.   In the photo below you can ...

There was a one day strike in certain areas on 30th September and there is a threat of a national strike later in the year but this apparently has to be balloted for. There are no dates for this at present, as far as I can gather. If there is a strike I'm tempted to suggest any mail order or online ...

Try contacting The Southwold Railway Trust. http://www.southwoldrailway.co.uk/ One of their members Stewart Green volunteers in their shop in the town among other things. For one of his model railways he scratchbuilt working examples of the signals in 4mm/ft. He will know what you need to know I exp...

Hi Nigel and others, first of all take a quick look at 'O gauge 7 mm' under 'General Garden Railways' on this forum for some specific O gauge chat. There is a mass of garden railways experience behind many of the members of this forum but it is worth noting that most of them, as far as I can gather,...

A Scotsman and an Israili were standing at a bus stop. The Scot said to the other, "When is the next bus due?" The Israili said, "I don't know, you Scots git."

A lovely railway in a lovely garden and lovely photos. The idea of circumnavigating the house with the railway is one we can't use on the Crowfoot Light Railway unfortunately.  The main reason is for security as we don't want to advertise the presence of the railway to everyone and our front garden ...

Nice video Andy, I particularly like the boat and we have identical Criccieth Castles. The boat was an nautical ornament I bought on e-bay. It needed a bit of work and some ship model fittings to titivate it up to standard but the boat itself was already built. The boat is flat bottomed which is no...

I would carry on with the build. Those in the know may find themselves scratching their heads trying to work out what is wrong with the coach. I put a video of my swift sixteen low loader bogie wagons into this forum and no-one noticed all the bogie sides were upside down. Well, they didn't notice u...

Very interesting comments Andy, and since this hasn't "moved" to a separate thread I'll quite happily reply here. Hi, you were under no obligation to reply, I was setting out my view in reply to other contributions earlier in the thread.  After all a forum is a meeting to exchange views. ...

I'm not a fan of comic figures, though they are clearly popular with others, but this model is brilliant.
Perhaps the 16mm Ass. should start a new category for their MOTY competition at the national show.

I'm going to get shot down again for continuing the subject of dogs, but my two have no respect for garden railways either. My first kit built building was a wooden Brandbright station building with lean to loo. My dog had the loo off and crushed to matchwood before I had a chance to admire my work...

I use a number of flower and plant arrangements from dolls house accessories to smarten up station platforms. However, I have to put away most things after a running session to protect them from my dog, so they don't get exposed to the weather for long periods.

Re: SVLR - progress being made

I know I am probably doing this wrong, ?????? Looks fine to me. One mistake I made when I started out was to try and catch up too quickly with other members of our local group, some of whom had been garden railwaying for many years. Your method allows you to enjoy developing your railway at your ow...

I like the sound of exterior PVA myself... many alternatives have been thought about and then dismissed on various grounds, e.g. cost, colour, flexibility.   If PVA holds for just one season, it is easy and cheap enough to just do it again! I bet there is someone out there who has the answer....? H...
