GVT Tar Tank Wagon

Post by WVLR » Tue Sep 17, 2013 4:16 pm

I started work today on my latest piece of rolling stock, not a Khazie on wheels ;) like the last one seemed to turn out,
but a model of an interesting prototype (well to me anyway) from the Glyn Valley Tramway.

So here's the tank to start off with, made from 3mm laser cut ply with 3D printed detail.

That is a really unusual and appealing model.

Easy to make without buying a kit I have scratchbuilt one ie built from scratch with 3mm ply box a cube, plastic strip and rivets with white metal axle boxes and slaters wheels all mounted to an underframe with a spout for the tar with valve wheel and brake handle. Myself I would trim those axleboxes off and fit white metal axle boxes.
It seems this is another way for makers to reduce costs by intergrating axleboxes
