I have often wondered if it is worth organising a combined ringing outing and garden railway opening, as I know of at least three other combined ringers and garden railway ologists. I learn't to ring at St Peters Brighton in 2001, spent 4 years ringing at York Minster where I learnt' to ring properl...

Exciting! New Year new house new railway! Good luck with the move and make sure you get the priorities right. Lay the track foundation. Lay the track. Test it. Then and only then move onto the house needs. i.e. washing machine plumbed in TV working, decorating and furniture settings etc. etc. Thank...

Last trains on the DFLR

So the time has come to lift the track to prepare for moving house in the new year. Yesterday and the weekend before saw the last trains to traverse the DFLR. I thought I would share some pictures! Raven with the last mixed train. ./myff/1832652/Raven1edited.jpg Sophie with the last ever train. ./my...

My understanding is they are fairly straightforward. I've not built one, though its on my to do list. When chatting to the bloke at the stand several years ago as I first started, I was informed that a 11 year old had managed to put one together without much hassle. They also have phenomenally good ...

Does indeed sound like it needs adjusting. Chris Cairns has put up some solid advice, so I would try that. Failing that, drop Accucraft a phone call or e-mail, I have always found them exceedingly helpful when trying to solve issues.

Good luck and let us know how you get on!

I will try and fire her up to see what happens tomorrow night.
Aha! I had been eyeing that one up as well, pity the funds weren't forthcoming.

I think thats the wisest move. Be gentle with her, you will be rewarded! ;)

Is that the one off that Maxitrack had? If so, she has been standing for a while! It sounds like there may be oil left in the valve block from when she last steamed. I would oil and light here up, and let her warm through. Once she is nice a warm, gently operate the reverser, it should come free. (I...

He makes transfers on request. http://www.rail-roadmodels.co.uk/#!custom-railway-crests/c1yg4 I can highly recommend Rail-road models for the custom transfers. They are excellent, and the service was second to none! :D My crests came from him, and with extra care cutting them out, they worked out s...

I'm afraid I haven't tried any, so can't comment on the quality of the kits, though I have heard some good things.

When I did my Lawley about 18 months ago I bought several lengths of M8 (?I think?) threaded bar off ebay, along with washers and nuts. Bit bodge it and scarper but it seems to be okay. I would post a link but I can't seem to find the ebay link to the supplier.

Sorry I can't be of more help!

Or post them in the New Models & reviews section. I think we have had quite a few people post their wares in there in the past.

I haven't won anything on ebay for ages. When I first started I managed to pick up alot of rolling stock ready to run for about the same as the price of the kits, which was enough to get me going. Lately I've been outbid every time I have bidded for carriages and wagons, with the price usually tripl...

Well thanks to all who gave me some great tips on the varnishing of the carriages. These are actually starting to near completion. The two closest to being finished are all 3rd no. 6 and brake 3rd no. 9. These are fully kitted up with lights, and are now just awaiting some paint touching up, glazing...
