My Live Steam Loco's No.10 - Cheddar/GRS Steam Tram

OK, I've been clearing up my steam engine store, and uncovered this boxed loco. Particularly for steamyjim here is my 10th live steam loco, a Cheddar/GRS Steam Tram. http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w283/CCairns_2007/Cheddar%20Models%20Limited/CheddarGRSSteamTram01.jpg http://i179.photobucket.com/...

Helps a lot when you do not have a Garden railway to try your locos out on, or when the weather is foul like our severe gales here in Scotland recently.

I already have the instructions for my Iver thanks. I guess that the Cheddar/GRS Trams were actually sold by GRS and they would have produced some instructions. It is how the loco should be set-up for the R/C side that I'm interested in, so when I get some time I'll write to GRS to see if they still...

£72 plus postage. See his website for more details - http://www.prescottlocos.fsnet.co.uk/ I got it from his trade stall at The Merstham Steam Rally a couple of years ago, plus some of his oil and other odds & ends so got some discount. Seems to depend on your locos wheel flanges as the old styl...

My John Prescott Rolling road is dual guage and I've got a third set of rollers as well for those Mamod 0-6-0T conversions!

steamyjim I'll try and get it out of the box in the next day or two. I do not like the way the battery boxes and other bits were crammed onto the boiler. Unfortunately it came with no instructions, and I think there is a least one brass fitting missing to detail the tram body. Did you find a spare ...

Yes they made some very nice engines, and of course several live steam locos as well. I've got their R/C Iver and the R/C Cheddar/GRS Steam Tram (that's tucked away in a box just now but I'll get some photos done sometime. This loco needs a lot of work on tidying up as it has all been squeezed insid...

Instructions for fitting a Mamod or MSS Loco Gas Burner

Here is a scan of the fitting instructions for the gas burner to fit a Mamod or MSS loco. These were originally manufactured by Cheddar Models and either sold direct or through a dealer like PPS, Chasteam or Forest Classics. [Mod Note]File no longer available, topic kept for discussion reference. Th...

So are these decals a copy of the original white 'The Mamod Steam Railway Co.' one or one of the other Mamod decals that you offer on the Unofficial Mamod Forums.

I would certainly be interested in the white Railway transfers if they are available.

Graham, you need a set of Gauge 'O' wheels then you will be able to run it.

Not sure if I've got enough left in my spares box to make a working set of Guage 'O' wheels but will have a look later.

Either that or get some LGB track which seems to be good for live steam running.

MM Always nice to see Rosa in action. Are the new transfers copies of the Railway one or just the general Mamod one that Forest Classics sell. If I come to STIA as a member of the public and come in my car then I can bring my Prescott Rolling Road as well. steamyjim Have you got those Mamod Gauge 1...

I take a 6BA screw, lightly tin around the bottom of the head, feed some thread through the hole in the boiler where the rivet was previously and bring this out the hole for the sight 'glass', put this thread around the top of the threads on the screw, drop the screw into the sight 'glass' hole and ...

My all time favourite is 'M*A*S*H' which I used to video off the BBC in the 1980s. Of course it is now on DVD (sadly with no bonus extras) and I've got them all. Who is the only actor that appeared both in the film 'M*A*S*H' and the series M*A*S*H as the same character. My next favourite is the BBC'...

There are 2 weakness with the standard boiler when using the Cheddar type gas burner. 1. The solder fillet which holds the pipe in the middle of the boiler through which the steam pipe goes up, is right in the flame centre of the gas burner and I think it is just soft soldered. I've had 2 of these l...

Yes I got that video camera cheap on ebay. Whilst it is good for video, it takes very low resolution digital photos, so my digital camera is better for that (although I'm looking at getting a new one with a good macro facility for all these steam engine close-ups). The screen had started to play up ...

Short Answer - No! The coal wagon I used ( 1st one is this posting http://gardenrails.myfreeforum.org/about140.html ) is fitted with a centre coupling. Unfortunately it is much lower than the one on the loco, so when the loco was running out of steam it decided to un-couple and go on shed - actually...

I would not think this will be a cheap option.

Market for castings will be very small so no profit to be made and thus prices adjusted accordingly.

Looking at the other items on their website, these are well engineered and priced high accordingly.

Video of My Live Steam Loco No.4 - MSS Saddle Tank

OK, having fitted a refurbished Mamod loco boiler into this loco, I've finally managed to get some satisfactory running. I'll post a topic about this troublesome loco soon, but in the meantime here is the loco in action. http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w283/CCairns_2007/MSS/th_MyLiveSteamLocoNo4....

Video of My Live Steam Loco No.3 - I.P. Jane

Here is a video of my third Live Steam loco in action, a I.P. Jane. Hopefully when I get the bits together my IPS Janet will have a similar or better performance ( http://gardenrails.myfreeforum.org/about81.html ). http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w283/CCairns_2007/IP%20Engineering/th_MyLiveSteamL...
