Inspiring - I'm still hoping to build a Katie myself, when time/funds allow. Lovely to see what you've done and how well it's come out. Your painting tips are very helpful - I think that's the bit that scares me the most! Thanks Simon and Ian. I did enjoy this kit a lot - of course it isn't finishe...

Tony - Feeling slightly embarrassed about my painting comments since you are at Jedi - level of painting locos! Maybe I will send my next one your way! Blushes uncontrollably... thank you, but I congratulate you on taking the plunge, having a go and ending up with something that looks delightful. ...

Pete - I agree...three cheers for Roundhouse! RC is the way to go, chasing locos around the garden isn't a lot of fun I found. I had a manual Ragleth but soon had RC in that one! I think once I have saved up again (which will take some time) I will try a Billy kit, I would really like to create a ba...

Roundhouse Katie Kit Build
Hey everyone. I have now had a railway for a couple of years and collected a few locos and a bit of stock. Now that Staple Hill Railway is coming together I really wanted to add a Roundhouse steam loco to the collection. I settled on a Katie kit. Firstly, this was my first dealing with Roundhouse di...

Here is the latest update from Staple Hill. I had this week off work and I had planned how much I would be able to get done in the garden. The weather, however, had other ideas and since we have now reached the monsoon season, most of the week was spent in the workshop. Managed a couple of runs and ...

This has suddenly happened to me as well. I do tend to use epoxy where possible but where I do use SG, I have been using the same brand for some time (Gorilla Glue) all of a sudden I got the white coating on some coaches where I had used it to add detail. It came off with a little thinners and then ...

The planting has come on nicely. Do you have your missing baguley window? I have some here (somewhere) after cutting the bonnet off a body to make a 7/8th loco. Thanks Derek, that's really kind of you but I have the window, I thought it had vanished during the painting but it later turned up stuck ...

Its unbelievable that so long has passed since my last update. I became unwell just after the last post in July and was out of action for the best part of a month...relegated to light duties in the workshop! My work over the summer also took me away from the garden so am just getting started again. ...

New loco for Staple Hill Railway - Roundhouse Bulldog
I decided to bolster the electric loco fleet at Staple Hill. While steam is the usual motive power of choice, there are those days when you want to chill out in the garden and watch the trains go by without having to be driving a steam loco (not that often but it does happen!) I have electric locos ...

Looking great! Really impressive and quality progress! Is your Ragleth fitted with Slomo BTW? Rik Hi Rik Hope you are well The Ragleth doesn't have a Slomo, in fact, because it has inside valve gear, you can't fit one (although you could put one in a wagon) I have found that opening the regulator 5...

Hi Guys Thanks for all the help. I have cleaned the safety valve out and also replaced the gas jet and the loco seems to run fine now. Have steamed her a couple of time and all is good. I am going to replace the gas valve as a matter of course. Thanks again for all the advice, very much appreciated ...
