Re: North East Victoria Railway

The line was originally inspired by a lot of English layouts and ran a flat loop as I held ambitions of running live steam when I had enough money saved. 13 years later that ambition still hasn't been realised and trains don't really run to that section as I really hate working at ground level. The ...

Re: North East Victoria Railway

Thanks Fellas! There was some serious contemplation and now some regret coming through about not picking the Bundy up but that's life unfortunately. There were a few other additions this holiday so the case is well and truly full. Had an excellent day at NYMR yesterday and rode the 9F but today we m...

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?

Thanks Jake, glad you approve! Just think, you are 'just around the corner' from me, in Australian terms. If you have a day off in your diary, just drop me a note and pay me a visit. The thought did cross my mind! I really should have been better organised and tried to meet a few forum members arou...

Re: North East Victoria Railway

Few pictures from the Llangollen show, seemed to be an extremely healthy turnout with some fantastic traders. We didn't realise there was a delayed opening for purchasing tickets at the door and so waited quite a while to get in but that's alright. Would highly recommend people buy the "early bird" ...

Re: North East Victoria Railway

Thanks for the kind words gents. Its very slowly getting there although It very much is missing the people aspect along with buildings to house them. taking pictures with fences, bins and full size bins in the background isn't much fun at all! I've got a full week in Wales so not sure which bits of ...

Thanks for the advice Rod! I don't think the hire car people would be particular happy about getting their hatchback full of grass

Re: North East Victoria Railway

Evening all. Few pics from running last week. I've managed to finish ballasting Marysville now but am still seriously slacking in the buildings department. These will be the last for a while as I'm travelling to the UK today for a few weeks. Hoping to see some cool things and maybe come home with a ...

Re: Semi-scale BR: The Modernisation Plan

Fantastic work Bertie. It really does make you wonder though why Bachmann couldn't release theirs looking like yours to begin with! The "as delivered" model is so out of proportion its not even funny which is a bit disappointing because I was contemplating buying one at least to make a "near enough"...

Quite like that railmotor, it's got a ton of character already. Never thought I'd say this (here in Aust) but it has been a weirdly short and cool Summer, hasn't it.. I recognise the paint on those points in the last shot.. I was wondering if anyone would notice the points had changed  T...

Re: North East Victoria Railway

With winter looming over us and work picking up in hours advantage has been taken in using the track a lot more at night time. So the DE was recently fitted with headlights and step lights for the crews safety. 333406370_536821715293319_6472437917782455844_n.jpg The DE seen here waiting for its next...

Not quite as fictitious as you think Aaron. Four MM's were sent to Borneo and regauged to Metre gauge http://media.lrrsa.org.au/amoz186/Light ... ys_186.pdf

Some excellent modelling on show here I've filled in a good few hours now reading through Phillipys build logs which has been very nice!

Re: Cardboard Hunslet

Night and day difference with that kit Rik it looks fantastic now. I would have thought a couple of good coats with Poly varnish or similar would keep the colour but fill the end grain of the card. In hindsight once the parts are cleaned up thats probably the best time to soak them before assembly. ...

Re: North East Victoria Railway

Its been a fun summer running season. Although its rained much more then usual which has really put the brakes on a lot of the infrastructure work I'd planned. won't be long before we're back into dark and cold winter and that'll be that for another 6 months

Re: North East Victoria Railway

Thanks Graeme thats a good start! Im more aiming for the preserved scheme as I find the original TGR red and cream a bit bright for my tastes. But consensus seems like its close enough which is good enough for me. I've always had a bit of a poor eye for colours so thats reassuring at least. Hopefull...
