Love the clock tower. It looks a little like the clock tower in my village!

The milk stage is great too... I'm just playing with some ideas for a self propelled milk wagon (i.e. a rail 'milk float') so when I finally get going on that I'll be needing something similar.

Isn't that the tide line 1/3 way up the wall? So the sand is below the tide line?

Thanks Ian. Yes, practise is the key - I often need reminding of that! Good idea to just get some brass sheet to solder - I was going to get a brass wagon kit as a kind of 'low stakes' practice, but just solder brass or painting cans for the sake of it is a better starting point; I'll be more willin...

Inspiring - I'm still hoping to build a Katie myself, when time/funds allow. Lovely to see what you've done and how well it's come out. Your painting tips are very helpful - I think that's the bit that scares me the most!

I'd better make sure I re-read all my bookmarked archive articles before then! You can save them as PDF files. Thanks for the pointer Chris. I have a Print & Digital subscription to Narrow Gauge World, but just had an email today inviting me to renew the Digital subscription with PocketMags, so...

Appreciate the clear answer Steve. Garden Rail is a good mag, I've enjoyed reading it. Without the archive, I won't re-subscribe but I'm sure I'll still pick up the odd paper copy from time to time.

Well, I've had (rather late, I think) an email about the change. A "special offer" with Pocket Mags is 12 months @ £29.99 - isn't this 49p more than it cost with Exact Editions? Anyway, nothing in the email about how big an archive (if any) is to be made available, so until I get further n...

This is bad news! If the 10 year archive goes, I'll have to think about whether to resubscribe. I remember I got an email saying Exact Editions cancelled my auto-payment on 1 Sept. I meant to investigate, haven't got round to it. I'm astonished that subscribers weren't emailed with an explanation. M...

The graffiti is brilliant Peter.

I'm no expert on the subject, but shouldn't you have a 'tag' so that the other, er, crews know who burned them with these hits?

I like the idea of graffiti. I find the funniest ones are embellishments on official signs, neither of these would work in your context but this is the kind of thing I mean ./myff/2005462/receivebacon.jpg From a bathroom hand-drier ./myff/2005463/13+-+1.jpg Little Haven village sign So perhaps you n...

Today was a running day with guests, Big Jim and Simon Wood, of this Forum.  Fresh coffee flowed and home-made chocolate sponge with fresh cream, supplied by my good lady, went down well. Oh yes, we ran some trains too.... Thank you for your hospitality, Peter - great coffee, great cake, great comp...

Tee hee. I'd like to invite his lordship to bring his slughounds to the Moel Rhos Estate, where the beaters are not needed. Huge herds of slugs can be seen roaming freely through the lettuce groves and into the rhubarb forest. Sometimes they take refuge in the tunnels - but I wouldn't advise the par...

That worked out well. I've found that keeping the gears on the flywheel liberally oiled keeps the mechanism pretty quiet. Your track is coming along nicely too. And the Millie looks great. Those are nice engines.. Yup, a lot of oil, and a bit of fettling and the noise has become acceptable. Thanks ...

I've been inspired to by Mr Bond's Momentum Van to build my own Momentum Wagon with the aim of achieve slo-mo-esque running. But... Has anyone tried multiple MVs in a train? This was tempting... But if I were to put two Zecar equipped axles into a train, why not put them both in the same wagon? So I...
