Peterborough shopping list & valve chest covers.

Greetings all.
Does anyone know:
1. who stocks opening spectacles for the cab of my Lady Ann. I looked at these at last years show but kept my wallet in my pocket.
2. who makes running boards for the above loco. My aging Lady needs to cover up a little as she is starting to feel the cold
Also, I asked a few months back if anyone on this esteemed forum had any of the black cylinder covers for my Lady with the older rectangular valve chests as Roundhouse have absolutely none in stock any more. If anyone has come across any in old boxes or drawers etc. that are feeling unloved and would like a new home please let me know what you would like for them.

The current covers fit the older cylinders if you replace the cheesehead 8BA x 1/2inch screws with countersunk heads and countersink the holes in the valve chest cover. You'll probably also need to file a slot in the front of the cover to fit over the dummy valve spindle on the valve chest. Works well, I've fitted them to several locos this way, including this one:

Hi Tony.
Sounds a good modification but as my valve chests are rectangular does the new cover completely cover the top of the chest. Also if I change the screws to countersink, do I need shorter ones?

Yes, as shown in the picture I linked to.

You may need to remove one or two threads from the end of each screw to stop them bottoming in their holes. If they do hit the bottom of the hole there is a real risk they won't hold the valve chest steam tight and over-tightening will snap the screw.

I've been thinking of tarting my old Lady up (no offence Mrs Broom) and wonder now whether I could drill the covers to allow the heads through. I have got a set of covers on my Katy so I can see they will fit with either drilling or new screws.
